Insurance market in Australia comprises three segments: general insurance, health insurance and life insurance. Australia’s general insurance industry is expected to grow from A$76 billion in 2020 to A$98 billion in 2025, based on gross written premiums, according to a data analytics and consulting company GlobalData plc. QBE Insurance Group is the largest insurer in Australia with gross earned premium of A$19.1 billion in 2020. Insurance Australia Group (IAG) and Suncorp are the country’s second and third largest insurers with A$12 billion and A$9.8 billion in gross earned premiums, respectively. General Insurance Companies
Insurance Australia Group, headquartered in Sydney, is Australia’s largest general insurance company with $14.7 billion of gross written premium (GWP) per annum. It sells insurance under many brands including NRMA, SGIO, SGIC, CGU, RACV, Swann and WFI, among others. The Group is also the largest general insurance company in New Zealand. It is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
AAI Limited, trading as Vero Insurance, is one of Australia's largest insurers. It provides insurance products to businesses of all sizes. It offers SME business packages, property, commercial motor, liability, workers compensation, aviation and marine insurance, engineering & equipment breakdown insurance, recreational vehicle insurance and more. The company offers its products only through brokers and authorised agents. Vero no longer offer car, home and landlord for new personal insurance policies.
Chubb Insurance Australia, provides customized insurance solutions to individuals and businesses in Australia. The offerings include commercial, property and casualty, group personal accident and business travel insurance as well as reinsurance. Chubb has been helping Australians for over 100 years. Based in Sydney, the company has six branch locations in Australia.
Achmea Australia offers farm insurance products including broadacre, livestock and stud stock insurance. The company sells insurance through farm insurance specialists located throughout rural Australia.
AIG Australia provides a wide suite of products and services, including traditional insurance and highly specialized solutions. With offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane, the company has been present in Australia since 1957.
Atradius is one of the leading credit insurers in Australia. The company’s products include credit insurance, debt collections and tailored solutions. Atradius has a team of approximately 70 people including underwriters, account managers and collections specialists.
