The Greater Building Society Ltd (now Greater Bank) was established in 1945 and provides a wide range of financial services for retail and business customers. It offers savings and investment accounts, trust accounts, home, personal and business loans, credit and debit cards, internet, phone and mobile banking, financial planning and merchant facilities (EFTPOS, BPay Biller, Direct Debit). It also offers home, contents and landlords insurance, car and ctp insurance, boat, caravan, travel and life insurance. The company serves customers through a network of 67 branches, the largest branch network of any Australian building society, and 103 ATMs. On May 1, 2011, Greater Building Society officially merged with Armidale-based ABS Building Society. In 2011/2012, Greater was named Australia’s Building Society of the Year by Australian Banking & Finance Magazine. In 2012, the company recorded the highest customer satisfaction rating of about 96%. As of June 30, 2016, it reported total assets of $5.7 billion, customer loans of $4.5 billion and deposits of $4.9 billion.
In 2016, Greater Building Society changed its name to Greater Bank.
